Stanford Students Made Transparent Li-Ion Batteries
Saturday, July 30, 2011 Sainath Sriram No comments
As the mobiles are changing their shape now a days, we were uncertain regarding the charging of devices. We have roller phone mobile concepts, paper thin mobile concepts and so on. But how these mobiles can be charged is the big question. I mean, mobiles generally use Lithium Ion batteries for their smooth running. And the current scalability of these batteries are about an inch or two. Thanks to one of the Stanford graduate, Yuan yang who developed Transparent Li-ion battery with his professor Yi Cui which paves the way to the future consumer electronics. This battery is paper thin [50 Microns] and transparent too. These batteries are made up of Copper, Aluminum and a special substance called Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). 'PDMS is dead cheap and is already being used in contact lenses and in plastic surgeries' says Yang.

Plantbook: The Oxygen Notebook
Thursday, July 21, 2011 Sainath Sriram No comments
This notebook stands as a technological leap towards eco-friendly gadgets. Imagine a notebook which can be rolled and carried away. And the most important thing is it can work with oxygen which eradicates the use of electricity which in turn reduces power and is eco-friendly.
When the notebook is rolled out completely, one can find a tag like structure which is a battery indicator. Of course, charging this notebook is nothing but immersing the notebook in to a bucket of fresh water! The cylindrical part of the notebook is incorporated with the entire mechanism that can use the oxygen in the water to power up the notebook through electrolysis method. And the status of charging can be perceived via indicator tag. If water is not available to you, no worry! This thing can be charged through solar energy too! Quite impressive.

MacBook of 2020 Concept
Wednesday, May 18, 2011 Sainath Sriram No comments
Put aside your critical ego for a moment and enjoy designer Tommaso Gecchelin’s vision of an Apple MacBook circa 2020. Keyboards, mice and 2-dimensional screens are passe. Hit the jump for the future.
Envisage a computer nearly paper thin, able to shape shift from metal to plastic. Thanks to molecular manufacturing, a micro-lattice nano material enables you to shrink the dimensions to fit into your pocket. Nano technology miniaturizes familiar technologies into thin sheets of composites, each serving a separate function. One layer is photo voltaic for infinite battery life. One layer projects ultrasound waves for tactile feedback. Another layer works like a pelican cam to capture the real world in 3D while a separate layer works like a holographic emitter. And of course, everything is wireless. No ports, no cables. I only have one question. Will it blend?

Triple Fold Notebook
Tuesday, May 03, 2011 Sainath Sriram 2 comments
Everything is being scaled down day by day. Especially every electronic gadget scales down to remarkable sizes every year. And this laptop is an example to that. From vacuum tubes to desktops, from desktops to laptops, from laptops to palmtops and from palmtops to? I can guess we are going to experience a vast change in technology regarding the size of devices. This triple fold laptop has the facility to fold the screen in the middle so that it can be easily carried away. When it is folded completely, it just looks like a slim case but not a laptop. Also, the keyboard is also reduced to the size suited to the fold. A new trend folding concept.

Wednesday, March 09, 2011 Sainath Sriram 1 comment
Imagine a system of network computers that enables you sharing ideas at the same place. Do not think that it is an old and known concept. This system of computers is far different from traditional network sharing. This Napkin PC concept enables you to share your innovative thoughts at the desk while you are thinking on a design. This phenomenon uses e-ink paper, digital color pens, base station transceiver that uses RF technology which enables the flow of information between the 'napkins'. The base station, simply looks like a simple accessory holder contains the color pens and e-ink papers. While you are discussion on a design, take a paper and image your design on the e-ink paper with your digital pen. Through RF technology, share that idea among your mates via other napkins and rebuild your concepts. This is a very flexible design yet creative to share information.
