Project BEE will assist Visually Impaired
Tuesday, May 24, 2011 Sainath Sriram No comments
Project Bee is a talking, interactive GPS enabled navigation assistant intended for the visually impaired but there’s no reason why sighted people couldn't benefit from it either. Lack of independent mobility and access to new emerging technologies has kept the visually impaired market behind but with Project Bee, designer Tao Lin hopes things will change – all via a very stylish bracelet.
The system relies on voice commands, audio and haptic feedback. But what instantly jumps out at me is this device doesn’t look like a “helper.” It looks like something anybody with a tech minded fetish would love and that’s a win-win assuming the whole thing works.

MacBook of 2020 Concept
Wednesday, May 18, 2011 Sainath Sriram No comments
Put aside your critical ego for a moment and enjoy designer Tommaso Gecchelin’s vision of an Apple MacBook circa 2020. Keyboards, mice and 2-dimensional screens are passe. Hit the jump for the future.
Envisage a computer nearly paper thin, able to shape shift from metal to plastic. Thanks to molecular manufacturing, a micro-lattice nano material enables you to shrink the dimensions to fit into your pocket. Nano technology miniaturizes familiar technologies into thin sheets of composites, each serving a separate function. One layer is photo voltaic for infinite battery life. One layer projects ultrasound waves for tactile feedback. Another layer works like a pelican cam to capture the real world in 3D while a separate layer works like a holographic emitter. And of course, everything is wireless. No ports, no cables. I only have one question. Will it blend?

Another wrist watch phone, this time from a popular brand Samsung. PROXIMA is the new watch phone concept that has so many unique and comfortable features that so many watch phones doesn't have now. All the watch phones available in the market have lacked a main feature, 'Privacy' that PROXIMA has. You must use speaker phone in any watch phone which is the main obstacle for privacy. But in Proxima you can remove the dial and put it near your ear and can talk comfortably. And all the multimedia features are retained as usual.

Use Mouse Without it!!
Tuesday, September 07, 2010 Sainath Sriram No comments
Free your hands! The Mouseless, completely invisible, is an innovative mouse that allows you to interact with the computers as the physical mouse do, while not needing to grapping it (of course you cannot!) It consists of an Infrared (IR) laser beam (with line cap) and an Infrared camera, both of which are built inside the computer. So when the user cups his/her hand on the surface where the computer sits on, a laser beam then appear underneath the hand, allowing him/her to interact with the computers. Really magical, right? This project is the part of Sixth Sense Technology developed by Pranav Mistry, a MITian.

Motion Controlled Robots
Friday, August 13, 2010 Sainath Sriram No comments
Till now we have seen programmed Robots which will work as we program them. We have came across artificial intelligence robots too which will act by analyzing our actions and moves accordingly. For this to happen, scientists keep a variety of actions in their database so they can retrieve according to the situation!!
This is past. The upcoming Robos work based on motion sensor programming! I mean, they work along with our actions. If you can see the picture below, you can notice people moving hands and according to their movements, the robot plays. These robots are termed as Roch 'em sock' em Robots. As we have seen in some movies and videos, you can control your robots with your actions.
